 The "ET" Trivia Quiz

True Trivia quizes are quite different from multiple choice quizes.  While many trivia games now offer the contestant a choice of 4 or 5 answers, it is the true trivial geek that actually knows the answers without being given so many choices.  Here's one based on the movie "ET."  See how many you actually know.

1.

What was the little blonde girl's name that Elliott kissed when the frogs were released and what TV show did she wind up on? 1 Pt.

2.

During the children's Halloween night scene, what character (from a different movie) can be seen? 1 Pt.

3.

Pete Coyote had a role in the movie "ET."  Before his face is shown, the audience knows that he is nearby by seeing what item? 1 Pt.

4.

Two people actually supplied the voice of ET.  Can you name either one?  Take a bonus point if you can name both. 2 Pt.

5.

How did Hollywood produce the sound of E.T. walking? 1 Pt.

6.

Most Hollywood movies are not shot in sequence.  They may have the last scene shot first and the first scene shot in the middle, etc.  E.T. was shot in sequence.  Why? 1 Pt.

7.

Steven Speilberg's original concept for the movie E.T. was the story of a family that was terrorized in their home by aliens.  He instead decided to go with a family-friendly movie.  What movie was the family-in-jeopardy concept developed into? 1 Pt.

8.

Most of the script for E.T. was written while filming the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Spielberg dictated the story to screenwriter Melissa Mathison.  Who was Melissa Mathison in relation to other people on the set? 1 Pt.

9.

Elliott was originally supposed to lure E.T. into the house with M&Ms, but Mars, Incorporated turned down the request to use their candy.  Do you remember what Elliott used in their place? 1 Pt.

10.

So you think you have a good, no, a great, memory.  Then what was Elliott's last name in the movie E.T. 1 Pt.

11.

E.T. was nominated for nine Oscars at the 55th Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.  What movie won both the Best Picture and Best Director Awards? 1 Pt.

The soundtrack for the film has actually been issued numerous times. The original issue was a recording of concert arrangements based on the film's music. Later issues contain the actual soundtrack cues as heard in the film, although most cues are alternates originally recorded for the film, but replaced by new cues.  The score was recorded in Los Angeles, and thus not using the London Symphony Orchestra.

On the track "The Magic of Halloween," when E.T. sees a child wearing a Yoda costume, John Williams included a portion of Yoda's theme, which he had composed for The Empire Strikes Back in 1980.
